Mere days just before preseason is set to begin, TSN headquarters have been informed by Thomas Sjogren, who is the player agent of Blackhawks forward Andre Burakovsky, that he will in fact "not" be traded out of Chicago at this time, and will be reporting to camp as expected. No comments had made its way out of the general managers office as of yet wether the talent swede was indeed placed on the block but the agent for the youngster seems to have signified that he was indeed being shopped around at some point.
Andre Burakovsky whos resides in his native country of Sweden, has been part of a series of speculations of recent days. The young forward was seen as being in good spirits as he landed at the Chicago O'Hare airport this afternoon. Burakovsky has been the talk of the town of recent days as rumors and unconfirmed reports had him being shopped around for a young equal quality defenceman in exchange for the immensely talented winger.

Following the trade that brought Auston Matthews back to his home state, Coyotes GM, Empty, has instructed the roster that team is no longer tanking due to moving their 1st rounder. There has been motivation and excitement around the dressing room and many players believe that the team has a shot of making the playoffs.

Word in the streets is New Jersey Devils head coach John Hynes could be out of a job in a very near future, and that failure to make the playoffs could mean an entire team blow up in the offseason.

Hearing that there could be significant changes to the Sabres blueline this off-season, starting with the impending acquisition of an "elite puck-moving defenseman" #DominoEffect #tradefrenzy #Blockbusters

In what could be their last game of the season, look for the iFlyers to shake things up. Skating reports indicate no line will be intact from game 4, and there will be some lineup replacements; Aubé-Kubel and Kero in, Arvidsson and Brown out. "Fight fire with fire" seems to be the strategy to counter the iIsles offense.

iKings GM Marcustard M Markillington on his Vishnevsky contract, "Maybe I'll move the team to Las Vegas - I like a good long-shot gamble," Vishnevsky is a high-risk signing that could make or break the team in the future, but the signing seemingly fits into the team's plan of "win soon". A lot of players with reasonable contracts that will be around 31-32 when their terms expire in the next four or five years.
On the hunt for a head coach, Marcumberbatch said, "We had our sights on him [Joel Quenneville] but we're not the only team with aspirations to be good. Vancouver has a great roster that will be even more dangerous on the ice with Joel behind the bench," The iKings are in the hunt for former TBL head coach Jon Cooper, as they hope to bring a strong veteran coach into the fold. Many speculate that Joel Quenneville was interested, but like Sutter, the iKings just didn't have the cash to compete in the free agent market this year.

Hearing that Arizona and Sami Vatanen are close to agreeing on a contract extension. Rumour is 35-40 million over 5 years.

Word out of Arizona is that the team is close to finalizing contract extensions with forward Oliver Bjorkstrand as well as defensemen Jan Kostalek and Mikko Lehtonen. Sources inside the Coyotes organization are also saying that a deal involving goaltender Fredrik Andersen is close to being finalized.

Rumor is that St. Louis is deep in negotiations with both Dallas and Calgary. Sources say that the Blues are in the market for a top six forward, and a few Blues prospects that are being discussed include Rasmus Dahlin and Ryan McCleod. Gaudreau and Monahan are obvious, as half the league is after one or the other, but one has to wonder what Dallas assets are in play.
A separate source says a trade from St Louis before the deadline is immanent, but declined to comment on any other details.

Hearing rumors that recently acquired Red Wings center prospect Alan "Lizard" Lyszczarczyk has been in contract talks with a handful of Russian teams over the past few days. If true, this would put a dent in the rebuilding process that has just begun in Detroit by new Wings GM, M.W. Smith. When asked to comment, Smith said "I've heard all types of rumors, like Bigfoot was spotted in northern Maine, a hotdog is indeed a sandwich, and the NHL plans on expanding into the Las Vegas market. Until something concrete comes across my desk, I take it all with a grain of salt."
Dreger out.

Dreger Update: (Detroit, MI) The "Lizard" has indeed signed overseas but not with any of the teams originally reported, and as such has again entered contract talks with the Detroit Red Wings early this morning. He is expected to sign an ELC later this week, much to the relief of many Wings fans. Red Wing GM, M.W. Smith, had his usual tongue-in-cheek response to this news, "Yeah, I don't pay much attention to rumors, especially ones that are started by the diggers. And no, a hot dog is NOT a sandwich."
Dreger out.

With the preseason coming to a close in the next week it's starting to look like former 5th round pick of the Carolina Hurricanes, Spencer Smallman, may end up on a new team. There is strong competition for the top 14 forward spots in Ottawa, and Smallman looks unlikely to get one of those spots at the moment. Ottawa would like to keep him in the organization, but in my mind, it's unlikely he'll get through waivers unscathed and he is waiver eligible.

News out of Buffalo is that the Sabres have offered a 1 year, $3.6m deal to former player Tyler Ennis. Could prove to be a smart 'no risk' pickup by GM Dixon as Ennis is still a capable middle-six forward and will provide extra depth whilst they ride out their present injury crisis.

Breaking news from Buffalo is that talks between the Sabres and talented two-way defenseman Thomas Chabot have broken down. What exactly this means for the future of the young blueliner - who's on course for a career season points wise - is unclear at this point.

It's looking like Ottawa may be finished making deals for this trade deadline period. Sources say they were looking for an offensively gifted Defenseman and a top 9 forward, but they seem to have struck out.

The Senators are reportedly in discussions to extend their backup goaltender, Chris Gibson. They have also made qualifying offers to minor leaguers Daniel Krenzelok, Kelly Summers, and Hudson Elynuik. It's unclear how close the team is to extending those players or if this is merely an attempt to keep assets under organizational control. Time will tell.

Nikita Kucherov is awaiting his new destination. It is just a matter of time when the forward is shipped out of Tampa. Sources indicate that the Lightning were close to signing a deal but that a new team has entered into the discussion. Stay tuned for updates.

I'm also hearing the Oilers have been in discussion with a number of teams the past couple of days after the Burakovsky likely season-ending injury.
Embattled GM Paul Pearson has said they would improve the team if able to do so, but no announcements are imminent.

Huge news coming out of Buffalo, with the Sabres seemingly prepared to contemplate the previously unthinkable and trade perennial All-Star PK Subban if results don't improve. Whilst some teams would no doubt view being in a playoff spot with more than half the season gone as a favourable turn of events, standards remain high in Buffalo, and it's understood GM Dixon has been particularly upset that his team are now getting outshot on a semi-regular basis. With the Sabres unable to break out of their current slump and string together a consistent run of results, it seems they're fully prepared to make a major trade to try and shake things up...

Rumors out of Washington that, after tonight's two deals, they've also engaged in discussions on numerous other players on their roster, with at least one more excepted to come to fruition soon. A Washington source has told me on the condition of anonymity that GM Reid is incensed, and at multiple times has threatened to "fire everyone and everything that is connected to this team into the sun, including himself." It remains to be seen what will happen, but it is safe to say that the iCaps front office is currently the most hostile building in Washington.

Rumor out of Arizona today is that Dave Tippett will be stepping down as head coach. No word yet on his replacement but I'd imagine that Tucson Roadrunners head coach Ron Rolston will be the frontrunner.
