Due to recent Signings, the New Jersey Devils are edging close to the maximum contract limit of 50 players and will be looking to trade away players on the cheap in order to get back to around 40-45 total players under contract. Any team looking to add AHL or prospect depth would be an interesting trade partner for the Devils.

Rumours around the New Jersey Devils organization are hinting at Adam Larsson starting the season on the bench as a healthy scratch. The former 4th overall pick has been disappointing in the preseason thus far, and with the recent signing of veteran Defenceman Jan Hejda combined to the encouraging play of prospects Damon Severson and Darnell Nurse, the 22-year old finds himself on the outside looking in. It looks like the Devils' recent acquisition Nurse has the edge in the competition for the final open spot on the roster. Larsson, though, remains a lock to be on the 23-man roster come opening day, as he would have to go through waivers otherwise and has way too much untapped potential to risk losing him. Obviously, he could still make the opening day roster if he were to step his game up in the upcoming week. The same can not be said of 24 year-old John Moore who, after stagnating for a couple of years and still showing no progress in training camp, is looking like he'll have to go through waivers and, unless claimed, start the season in Albany.

Bruins GM: Claude Julien will be fired “over my dead body” Darren Dreger
Had a chance to catch up with Bruins GM Pepsi "Beans" Cola earlier today.
The Bruins are off to a really tough start and, while a lot of people saw this coming, getting shutout 5 times in the first 9 games is not sitting easy with fans in Boston.
While most of the blame is falling squarely on the GM after an offseason that saw the Bruins shift into a full rebuild, detractors of coach Claude Julien are also speaking up, perhaps sensing an opportunity to bring in a new coach.
All of which has hockey people asking what are the chances the Bruins make a coaching change any time soon?
“None. Claude Julien is one of the best coaches in the world and he’s not going anywhere. No chance. The only way he’s released from his contract is his decision to retire or over my dead body.”
The clearly annoyed GM didn’t stop there, either.
“The people who blame Claude are idiots. For argument's sake, let's forget that he's coached this team from mediocrity to championship before, that his players love him, and that he's routinely selected to Team Canada's coaching staff, but please tell me who we would replace him with – that whacko Tortorella, maybe Mike Keenan? If someone says Mike Millbury, I will ban them from the Garden for life."
"And if there are players who don’t want to play the way Claude wants them to, they should let me know, and I’ll make sure they’re the next guy I ship out of town.”
The coach may be safe but Beans is looking to make moves. Though the trade of Torey Krug for Kevin Fiala is viewed as more of a future move, the Bruins GM appears to have changed his position recently, indicating a willingness to move blue chip prospects in order to secure scoring.
“I would trade serious prospects to acquire scoring. It looks like a lot of teams are in “win-now” mode but I’d assume more assets will come on the market as teams fall off. We’ll be active – we always are. If teams want to secure some major assets for the future, we’re happy to have those talks.”

Sources within the Columbus Blue Jackets organization have denied the rumors of a potential blockbuster trade. At this time, I have not heard any specific player names involved, but @electrickeeper has shown that he won't rest on his laurels and wants his club competing for the top spot in the East. I have heard rumblings that the trade partner is a conference rival.

Word out of Washington is the Capitals have signed defensemen Wes Vannieuwenhuizen to an entry level contract and assigned him to AHL Hershey. In somewhat related news, we have also heard rumors that both the Capitals and Bears equipment managers have asked for pay raises after the signing became official.

The post-trade deadline Ottawa Senators are likely going to be difficult to watch for Senators fans. 6 new players will be dressed for today's game against the Blues with 4 of those six coming from Binghamton. It's going to be a long end to a disappointing season. I can see the hashtags already. #firelawblaw

Scoring seems to have dried up in Tampa as of late. On their worst stretch of the season their lack of scoring from their big boys is disturbing.
Eriksson 1 goal in 11 games
Filppula 2 goals in 17 games
Johnson 0 goals in last 15 games Stamkos 1 goal in last 6 games
Callahan 1 goal in last 7 games
Hudler 1 goal in last 20 games
Sources close to the organization say major off season changes could be made if trend continues heading into the home stretch of the season and into the playoffs.

Breaking news - London Knights to keep talent
London (ON) - The all conquering London Knights are set to keep both Mitch Marner and Matthew Tkachuk on their roster for the 2016/17 season. Tkachuk was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs with the 5th overall pick and we are getting news that they plan to let both Marner and Tkachuk stay together to build their rapport further. The third member of the Knights top line, J.J. Piccinich, is destined for Toronto but it is unclear whether he will start the season on the Maple Leafs roster or prove his talent in the AHL Marlies organization.
