Big trade. A lot more than Toronto got for Rask.

What a blockbuster. Edmonton with Rask just made them a potential dark horse in the west. Nice trade fellas

Not only that but Boston just cycled from a bubble team to a short-term rebuild with 2 solid blue chip prospects on top of the 3 they already have from last years draft. This is a trade that has huge implications. Not to mention they have Subban waiting in the wings.

I concur, Blockbuster all the way around! Also opens the door for Subban to face his brother sooner, haha!

I thought we were supposed to be looking at unfair trades. This seems heavily weighted to Boston.

I thought we were supposed to be looking at unfair trades. This seems heavily weighted to Boston. I thought this at first as well. But looking closer at the players involved it's a bit more even then it appears. I could do a breakdown but take a deeper look for yourself. Boston is the winner in my eyes but it's a decent trade for both.

Hmm...
Two 1st rounders with tons of potential in Draisatl and Nurse and two decent NHL ready players, plus future 3rd round pick.
All for a starting goalie.
I'd be interested in hearing Edmonton's take on the deal.
All I know is Boston drive a hard deal. He wanted a 1st rounder for David Krejci.

Ference is 38. It looks like Boston is rebuilding so i wouldn't even count him as part of the deal. Nikitin is a bit of a bust in my eyes. I will say this if i'm Edmonton i don't make this deal unless i think they are a contender now because Rask isn't getting any younger. Even then i don't think i make that deal. But i don't think think it's a super unfair deal.

Rask is 28 that's about 4-6 years of solid goaltending before he starts falling off.

I thought we were supposed to be looking at unfair trades. This seems heavily weighted to Boston. I think it´s a pretty even deal, like in the real NHL.....True elite players, which Rask is, are hard to get - EDM bascially got an elite goalie fr at least 5 seasons in exchange for 2 top-prospects, a pick and cap-anchors Ference & Nikitin which he probablay can flip for some assests at the deadline. A deal that benefits both sides.

This trade has miraculously survived and will be approved.

This deal also saves Edmonton cap space. Edmonton acquired the 2nd highest rated goalie in the game and one of only eleven current 5a/5p talents and lowered their cap hit. Like I told Chey, I have absolutely no need for Ference and Nikitin given my roster and what I'm doing.
The way I look at this deal is (1) Draisaitl and Nurse for Rask and (2) a cap dump in Ference and Nikitin for a 3rd, but neither deal happens without the other.
