Heading into the final stretch, the upcoming Rangers-Caps game leading off the next sim looms large. The Rangers, up by 5 points in the standings, have by far the toughest schedule the rest of the way. If the Caps can win the first matchup and survive the four game road trip that follows they could have an excellent shot. Even more so for the Rangers, who get their toughest opponents the next 8 days. Meanwhile, Detroit, with one extra game played, is up on the Rangers by 1 and the Caps by 6. Hartford, 9 back with 11 to play, remains a longer shot. REMAINING GAMES:

Wash. (3) Philadelphia (2) Ottawa NY Islanders Pittsburgh Detroit Hartford New Jersey Winnipeg

| Capitals
NYR (3) Ottawa Philadelphia Nashville Detroit San Jose Montreal New Jersey Carolina Dallas
6 home, 6 away
| Red Wings
