If I am Pittsburgh GM Duranium then I am making a move for an experienced D-man. Pittsburgh's possession stats are brutal! They need leadership, grit, and mobility FAST!

As expected, @nhldevils confirmed today the addition of @marian_hossa_81, and also confirmed winning the @jordanstaal11 sweepstakes in a more surprising move. New Jersey Devils' shopping is now widely believed to be over, though the team should still have about $3M in cap room that it could use before deadline. #NHLtradedeadline #metroarmsrace

Hearing rumours that New Jersey General manager Jon Bold has sworn to break all future talks with Chicago GM Rob Ranek after the latter did not contact him before shipping Mark McNeill, despite the fact Bold had inquired about him twice in the last few weeks. Will he hold the grudge, or was this just frustration speaking?

A few pieces of iBlue Jackets news - Was told that the Blue Jackets were in deep negotiations with a Western Conference team regarding Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. My source said that negotiations ended when the Western team didn't meet RNH's "ridiculously high" valuation by the iCBJ. - Also hearing that Rick Nash may be leaving Ohio's capitol sooner rather than later, with the iJackets looking to cash in before the season starts.

Sources out of the windy city suggest the Chicago organization have made early offers to two of they're players who are scheduled to become unrestricted free agents at seasons end. Rockford Icehogs goaltender Matt Hackett has been rumored to have been offered a two year deal while speedy checking forward Ben Smith has been offered a three year extension.
General Manager Ranek was overheard from media individuals that he was thrilled what (Matt) Hackett has accomplished since being plucked from waivers at the beginning of last season and was especially pleased on the positive influence he's had in helping top goaltending prospect Mackenzie Blackwood's performance so far this season as a nineteen year old.
He also mentioned briefly the outstanding work (Ben) Smith has brought to the fourth line so far this year and was quoted as to saying he wanted him part of the organization "for awhile"

Word around United Center believes GM Ranek was seen very angry at his clubs bad showing against some of the better teams in this weeks contests against his adversaries. Whispers and rumors suggest big changes may be coming soon and as early as next weeks games on the road as a majority of fans were left booing and cursing the teams performance the other night in a string of home games that were disastrous and must win contests. Analysts believe the organization is not looking towards trades but looking to other methods from within. Speculation suggest Nicholas Baptiste, Tyrell Goulbourne / Michael Ferland and William Karlsson have been mentioned to getting some icetime in the iNHL.
The twist however is some prominent players may be subject to waivers in order for this to happen. Players names that have been tossed around are Bouma, Latta, Williams, and some suggest Milan Lucic may be destined as a waiver option.
Stay tuned!

Rumors out of the iSharks front office say that they're looking into trading for a mid-top tier center, and are willing to package several prospects/picks to do it. Meier, Roy, Sawchenko, and the newly acquired Zborovsky are not likely to be included, but other prospects are fair game. Interesting development, especially considering their history of shying away from big deals.

*Breaking*
Huge news out of United Center this morning as Blackhawks assistant coach Rickard Falk was seen having a lengthy conversation with Andre Burakovsky who then skated promptly off the ice as the team was having they're regular scheduled morning practice this weekend. Two Unknown sources claim (Andre) Burakovsky was seen shaking hands with his teammates afterwards. No news as to where his destination is but it's a sure indication he had played his final game in Chicago.

Saturday Morning Roundup
Some rumors out of the windy city has surfaced that General Manager Rob Ranek was heard exploding on his teams efforts in the embarrassing losses to Ottawa and losing not once but twice in a row to the Stanley cup champion St. Louis Blues. Frederik Andersen has been regulated to backup role as Antti Raanta will garnish the start the next couple of games against Carolina, New Jersey and a important rematch against the Ottawa Senators in the coming days. Andersen who's nicknamed the "Danish wall" in Chicago, and is also a recent 2017 all-star recipient has played poorly since his return from the all-star game and management believes he needs to "turn it around" before it becomes a playoff concern.
other notables:
- Ales Hemsky has been demoted to the Rockford Icehogs (pending waivers) as he has shown considerable laziness and glaring holes in his defensive play in practice, so much that coach (Joel) Quenneville has not had the confidence in adding him into a regular rotation.
- Promising forward Nicholas Baptiste who had tallied 4 pts in his 15 game debut has impressed the coaches with his explosive speed and skills will be loaned to the Rockford team to continue to develop and improve while it may be apparent he will become a call-up prior to the playoffs.
- Large and rugged former LA King Jordan Nolan recently acquired via waivers will make his iHawks debut and will be playing alongside tough gut Michael Latta and defensive specialist Ben Smith to form the fourth line of the iHawks
- Coach Quenneville will form a new defensive pairing with Keith & McDonagh as Doughty will be sloted to the second pairing and will play alongside new line-mate Griffin Reinhart
- T.J Oshie and Jonathan Toews will become new linemates as Patrick Kane will be distributed to the second line to play alongside Teuvo Teravainen and Ty Rattie

Sources out of St Louis claim that David Backes is being demoted from Captain, with Alex Pietrangelo being given the C. If this is true, TSN believes that Backes will retain a leadership role within St Louis, most likely as an assistant Captain alongside Alexander Steen. This would indicate only a minor change in leadership for the Blues, as Pietrangelo already holds an Assistant Captain patch on his jersey.

Whispers of closed door meetings for Marcus Foligno and Mats Zuccarello. One-on-ones with the G.M about their performance, even this early in the season (the two combine for 1-2-3 and 24 SOG through 10 games). Cooper is apparently incensed that the General Manager/President of Hockey Operations went over his head. Both Cooper and Markiss have declined to comment, while Foligno and Zuccarello have not responded to my inquiries.
