Ottawa management today announced a minor trade involving Swedish prospect Filip Ahl sending him to the Vancouver Canucks organization in exchange for Montreal's 2nd round pick in 2016. Ahl looks to be a solid prospect with NHL potential and NHL size sitting at an impressive 6'4, 230. But the management team in Ottawa clearly saw him as expendable because of their prospect depth at that position with Nic Paul, Tobias Linderg, and Nic Petan all playing at Ahl's position. Ottawa GM Bob Lawblaw had this to say: "It was hard to led Filip go. He's a great young player and a great person, as all Swedes are. But we are comfortable with our present and near future options at that position, so when Vancouver made known their interest in Filip it all came together fairly quickly and easily. Additionally, we're really happy about receiving Montreal's 2nd round pick in this draft. This draft looks to be a strong one, and the Canadiens are really crappy. I'm sure this draft pick will only appreciate in value as we move closer to the draft and Montreal falls out of the playoff race... because they suck." Ottawa sends: LW - Filip Ahl Vancouver sends: 2nd round pick in 2016 (MTL) Ottawa confirms this trade.
