First time iNHL General Manager Ryan Crappa has been hired to take over the Colorado Avalanche franchise. In a related move the former General Manager Tony has taken over the Chicago Black Hawks. Here is a quote from the new Avalanche GM
"I just wanted to take a moment to thank Tony for the great shape that he left the Avalanche franchise in. He is a talented General manager and Chicago is lucky to have him. I also wanted to thank both Tony and the iNHL for this opportunity to take over not only a team in this great league but my absolute favorite team in the league as well. I will look to bring the same passion I have for this team to the league and look to build the next big thing in the mile high city. in 1996 they brought the first major sports title to Denver with the Avalanche and I plan to implement a game plan to continue the growth of this young talented roster and work twords the ultimate goal of bringing the coveted cup back where it belongs in Denver!"
There were quiet a few moves made on day one for the new General Manager.
It was quickly apparent that while Crappa loves the look and shape of the young talented players on the Avalanche and in the system he saw some missing veteran leadership that he felt would help the younger players particularly on defense develop their skills quicker.
Veteran blue liner Fancois Beachemin was recalled along with veteran blue liner Brad Stuart. to make room for these call ups the Colorado Avalanche have sent the following three players back to their juniors teams.
Noah Gregor
Jacob Neveu
Kirk Lemaire
Crappa held a press conference to discuss these three players being assigned to their junior teams for the remainder of the season. he believes that these three players are all core peices of the Colorado Avalanche's future and their future success. Mostly he wanted to give them more opportunity to get consistent high ice time to develop and refine their games. When asked when and if these three players would feature in his plans Crappa responded by saying next season they will have every chance to prove that they are ready for the big show in next years camp and pre-season. This is in no way a negative feeling twords these fine young men in any way he went on to say. We truly feel they are the building blocks of the future for this Avalanche team and are looking forward excitedly to see how they preform the rest of the season.
In the final move of day one Crappa also called up 26 year old winger Cody Hodgson.
anticipated d pairings for the coming game
T. Barrie E. Johnson
N. Zadorov F. Beachemin
B. Stuart N. Meloche
the only other line up change that fans of the team should expect to see is Cody Mcloed a healthy scratch as Hodgson will be getting a chance to play right wing on the fourth line for a few games.
"I fully expect the time Fancois and Brad spent in the iAHL mentoring and tutoring our younger players will be invaluable to both them and the players that they were sent down to help. I now am looking to them to be a big presence on and off the ice to mentor and help Zadorov and Meloche develop and continue to gain confidence at the iNHL level."
