The last place Anaheim Ducks had an extremely quiet deadline day, and you can't help but wonder why. GM Chris Wild moved most of his key pieces near the beginning of the season, but with prime players like Corey Schnieder, Ladislav Smid, Matt Calvert, and Jamie Mcginn all sticking around, Anaheim missed out on what was without question a sellers market. The bright side is that Anaheim has stuck to their season goal, and continues to make a run for the Patrik Nolan sweepstakes. They will without question be adding a franchise piece at the draft that will help their squad moving forward. Defenceman Mike Green leads the team with 29 pts, while former Bruin Pastrnak leads their goal total with 14.

Another tough year for Sabres fans, but exciting moves near the deadline saw Sam Reinhart, Brian Elliot, and a plethora of picks come to town. GM Kristian Dixon has been wheeling and dealing since the iNHL was founded, and a team is begining to assemble. With Micahel Dal Colle on the left side and Sam Reinhart on the right, talented young star Jack Eichel really has no excuses for the years ahead. Eichel leads his team with 22 goals and 41 pts, scoring 6 PPG, while enforcer Steve Downie does what he does best.. FIGHT. He's got 9 of them! And our guess is he hasn't lost many.

The Carolina Hurricanes, another team in the race for the bottom, managed to have a great deadline, moving out big contracts like Ales Hemsky and Brian Elliot and bringing in a big return for forward Elias Lindholm. Expectations are low at this point for the Canes, but they are slowly building up their club, icing a solid D line of Faulk, Hanifin, Murphy and Severson. Emile Poirier leads the team with 32 pts, while Nazem Kadri has 13 goals.

Who else is still in shock that the Penguin sweeping Blue Jackets ended up blowing it up? Well surprisingly its not as bad as it seems. Yes they probably should have attempted to move some pieces at the deadline, like Shawn Matthias or Micahel Grabner. But there is some great potential on this team, with Jakub Zboril and Bjorns favorite Nylander brother(who has 20 goals and 28 assists btw. Columbus has a long way to go. There are numerous cap dump players on this team, and plenty of prime players that could receive some assets at this years draft. We believe in you Maxwell, lead the Blue Jackets back to glory!

Trade Deadline: Inbetween
With every Winners and Losers I have less and less bad things to say about this Leafs team. GM Alex Grimsley has done a nice job of integrating youth into his lineup, icing 14 players at 25 and under. At the deadline he was able to bring in key prospects Anthony DeAngelo and Carl Grundstrom, as well as a 2018 first round pick, which will prove to be valuable in a deep draft. My only reservation was Toronto's inability to move Tyler Bozak and goalie Ryan Miller at the deadline. Two players with great value and reasonable contracts, Toronto may have missed out on a chance to get a return for Ryan Miller, and perhaps a more generous return on 30 year old Bozak. Regardless, the Leafs have managed to seat themselves in lottery position, and with Ryan Nugent Hopkins as the centerpiece of the new Toronto Maple Leafs, they will prove to be competitive much sooner than expected.

Sell sell sell sell sell sell sell. We found that carved into GM Jacob Zenters desk, and although normally we would call this a bit extreme, we all know the conditions these poor Stars were left in. Jacob has managed to sell nearly every aspect of his team, and in doing that has prepared himself for the future. His persistence in deals allowed him to get great returns for players like the Sedin Twins, Nicushkin, Reinhart, and Brock Nelson. It may take some time, but the Stars are going to be a very dangerous squad in a couple of years, and when they are we'll all look back to this mammoth of a add/sub column and know why.

I battled with the verdict on the Winnipeg Jets season. In a weaker western division and a Jets cabinet filled with prospects ready for ice time, I'd like to think they could compete for those final two wild card spots. The reality is, this wasn't going to be Winnipegs year, and continuing to build the prospect list isn't going to hurt them. GM Dax has been quiet this season, and rumors come and go of his involvement at this time, but the Jets no question lose at the deadline, with numerous UFAs set to hit the market, they may have been key adds for battling playoff teams. We look forward to seeing Winnipeg get back to its crafty maneuvering, we miss you Dax!

Expectations were high in Alberta this year, for two teams that looked high and mighty for years to come. Unfortunately only one of those teams have lived up to the expectations, as the Conner McDavid saga fails to get Oil Country out of its losing ways. Its not to say that GM Pearson hasn't worked hard trying to put together a winning team, because in reality this team is loaded with talent, and there really are no excuses, they just are not producing W's. Perhaps a coaching change will be on the way come the off season, or perhaps a change of leadership within the locker room. All we know is that there is no way this Oilers squad should be this bad, and GM Paul Pearson deserves better.

The decision of Winner or Inbetween for the Trade Deadline was difficult in the beginning for me to decide with regard to the Yotes. Arizona GM Travis Empty sending a whopping package to the Colorado Avalanche for former 1st overall pick Auston Matthews was gutsy, and in time we'll be able to look back and say with certainty whether or not this was a winning move. For now, in this moment, its a win. There is no question home grown Matthews is a huge pick-me-up for a Coyotes team that has struggled to stay afloat financially. His offensive and defensive presence will be automatically felt, and we expect him to be in Arizona for a very very long time. Arizona has done a great job at managing its assets over the year, stockpiling prospects and picks, and will finish off the year strong after moving their own first rounder. We may have finally seen the end of the slumping and losing with this club. The Coyotes are coming.

As you can tell, GM Nick "Worm" likes to trade. Like a lot. He effectively gutted this LA Kings team to take them in a new direction, and I'm not going to argue that they didn't need it, because lets face it, they were struggling. The reason I went with a losing verdict for the season stems from the fact that generally, when a talented club isn't winning, you tinker and try to find cheap, inexpensive ways to get your club back on track. In the long term, without question I believe this Kings club is in great shape. From a short term perspective, the Kings have taken a big step back, which I don't think any of us expected. All that aside, the Kings made moves that will set up their D core for a long time, and you know what they say. Defence Wins Championships.

This season has been a bust. With a core group in place all seemed well in La Belle Province, with the Habs winning 7 of 8 in the preseason. Then it started. The Canadians struggled to get going out of the gate, with minor injuries occurring. A losing record, after the quarter led to Michel Therrian being relieved of his duties and the bringing in of Guy Carbonneau (19-21-03 this season). The Habs would continue to struggle, injuries continuing to plague, and 1st line centerman Alex Galchenyuk going down with a season ender. As of Feb 27th, the Canadians injury days sat at 416, with playoffs hopes a laughable feat. The Canadians were able to salvage some pride, moving depth pieces of their club for numerous 2nd and 3rd round picks. The biggest change, being of course the trading of Carey Price for defenceman Oliver Ekman-Larsson. The Habs will ride out the rest of the season wondering what could have been, but with changes made, excitement for next season grows.

This has been an extremely eventful season for the Avalanche, and they have GM Ryan Crappa to thank for that. A team front loaded with Elite Centermen is no more, but certainly a more well rounded team has appeared. GM Ryan Crappa arguably made the biggest splash this Trade Deadline, moving Star players Matt Duchene and Auston Matthews. It's unusual to see players of these calibre moving, but in an effort to balance out his squad, it had to be done. The Avalanche will be another team in the west ready to compete in the near future, with names like Huberdeau, Mackinnon, Allen, Granlund, Theodore and Dauphin.

They were able to jump out to a great start to the season, and have been battling for a playoff spot with the best of them for months. With star goalie Roberto Luongo going down to injury, GM Steve Donaldson wasted no time bringing in younger and more talented Varlamov, as well as former Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog. The team is built well, solid pieces defensively and offensively. Hartford, keep battling, you're almost there.

Nashville has made great strides all season, and shy of some strange collapse will make the playoffs for a second straight year in the iNHL. Adding depth pieces like Franzen , Korpikoski, and Markov will be huge for the team down the stretch, while sending out minimal assets to do it. Washington Capitals fans cover your ears... are you ready? Filip Foresberg with 60 pts in 66 games leads his team, only one goal shy of another Bjorn Favourite, James Neal, who has 20. GM Sebastian Gue has managed to also get a great season out of former bust Nail Yakupov, who has 16 goals and 14 assists and is tied for the team lead in +/- with 13. Keeping Gunning Nashville!

Kurt, get ready, because you wont here this very often from me. I was wrong. Wow. I am still blown away at how well this team has performed. With the addition of Rick Nash, Vancouver has been able to summon strength, as they look poised to comfortably make the post season. Break out season for players like Leon Draisaitl, Mark Stone, Hunter Shinkaruk and Jordan Subban have helped to get the Nucks where they are, as well as consistent play from Corey Crawford who has 5 shutouts this season. The Canucks could have looked to add at the trade deadline, but with such a young team and many years of competitiveness ahead, there really wasn't a huge need. It will be very interesting to see how far this Canucks team can go, and who the can maybe spoil along the way...
