The Chicago Blackhawks look to be ready for the upcoming 2015-2016 iNHL season. We've sat down with GM Rob Ranek this morning and recently interviewed him about what we can expect this coming season.
" Well we've got a pretty darn talented lineup here in Chicago, everyone here has a handful of rings so we hardly believe we lack the experienced sort which is rare to have in the game these days. I don't feel like we need to shake anything up to be quite honest, but we are always looking to tweak what we feel will be necessary to carry us thru the season and beyond.. we've had preliminary talks on what we agree would be weakness's and others that we can address within our organization with the depth we have in Rockford"
The Blackhawks made a few moves leading up to preseason sending long time Hawks player Bryan Bickell and his big contract out to New Jersey allowing the team to breath as the Hawks were severely pushed to the cap only allowing a twenty man roster. In return Chicago received talented twenty-four year old Sergei Kalinin who looks to man the third line alongside center man Marcus Kruger and winger Andrew Shaw to start the season.
In one other move, the Hawks got stronger adding Deryk Engelland and another physical presence adding the Flames former hitting machine Michael Ferland, while giving up a solid Trevor Daley and Ryan Hartman.
" Deryk's going to add an element we haven't had in a long time and that's a big mean presence on the blue line, he's not only proven time and again to be underrated but he's reliable , keeps it simple and isn't afraid to mix it up if we need him to"
Engelland comes with not only playing alongside Crosby and the Penguins winning a Stanley cup but also adding even more experience with Calgary's magical second round playoff exit to the Anahiem Ducks last season
"Fergie is going to play on the fourth line this year, we'll move him around if needed but I feel he'll develop nicely focusing on the way he plays his own game"
"We're ready, the players are ready"
