Hey guys,
Increasingly we as execs are now being asked to insert injured players back into lineups etc. during a sim.
Whilst this might not seem like too big of an ask, a sim is already time-consuming enough with us having to apply depth-charts in the event of injury, goalie sub-ins, process trades, update the portal, zip and send out the file etc.
It’s our belief that the trade-off in terms of making sims easier and smoother to process, versus the impact it will have on a franchise to lose a guy for at most 2-3 games longer than thought, doesn’t justify the extra workload that these requests generate. Not to mention the possibility of bad blood if we genuinely forget a request given everything else we have going on during a sim.
However, since we are all equally impacted by the occasional minor injury, the exec board don’t want to make this decision unilaterally, so are opening things up to a vote in terms of whether or not you think this is something we should have to do during the sim process.
Cheers,
The Exec Board bjernagris, brentdog & beans

I think we already ask our Execs to do enough. Having an injured player miss an extra game or two shouldn't make a major impact, but maybe alternate plans can be made for the playoffs. I have actually started to leave my players out until the end of the sim anyway, but that's just personal preference.

I agree with Joe that we should make an exception to this during playoffs, when each game matters a lot.

I think this is ultimately the decision of those who do the sim although great to seek input. I do think it is something that makes the league special even if the sims take a bit longer. I would suggest if substitutions are kept, maybe we all enter them the same place - like the goalie chart and trust any interpretation of our depth chart. But I respect the decision of those who are doing the sim to say whether this should be continued.

An exception during the playoffs - agree with that

I agree with Joe (CGY) in both respects: a) Set our simmers free from this additional responsibility b) Exception for the Playoffs (and perhaps the final two sims of the season)
