Hey guys just thought I'd throw this out there. But we have the ability to remove the ads from the forum for about $6.00/month. We also have the ability to register our own domain name, which gives us a few more options when it comes to presentation and storage as FHM2 should allow us to export league files into some form of text format to be displayed on a web page. If we register with go daddy for 12 months it will cost about $1.49/month. If we go with these options we will only register the domain and get ad-free when our first season begins that way we get the best bang for our buck. We are looking at around $89.88/year for these services. Which would run us about $2.99 each for the full year. If we do want these services and someone wants to donate more or less or has any other suggestions please share below. Obviously once the game or more news on online league play is available we will know more about what our options are as far as how to handle everything.

I would say let's see how the league goes first before anyone decides to put any money up for the iNHL. Know what I mean? Leagues die as quick as they start. I'd hate to see anyone shell out a year's worth for a domain name and have the league fold in a couple months time.

That's a good point. We could even wait until the 2nd season or later to implement it if we wish. We will know who is dedicated by the time the game comes out, could be another 2 months or more. I may even decide to cover the costs of a domain name depending on how things work with the game. If we can make it work with the forum then we can wait but if it's not as easy for us to transfer the data to the forum as it would be to a web page outputs that the game will have, we may go with that. $1.49 isn't so bad. It's more the ad-free that is hard to cover and is more of s preference of each GM.

I Dont think so, Just seems unnecessary to me. Also I can tell you that online is something that is definitely being looked after and will be very good.

And if need be I think you would be able to get a free web hosting system and upload the HTML files via a program like FileZilla to host the pages.

This is true there are plenty of free hosting sites around that can harbour our files. It's more the ad-free thing I'm inquiring about. If they don't bother anyone that's fine we can leave them.

I'd go with Fidel at allsimbaseball I've already asked him if he'd host a hockey league; he said yes (which is why I may start my own league at some point) I used him for a few calendar years with an OOTP league I ran and had zero issues.

Fidel is a good guy. I don't know anything about hosting costs and the like, but I've played in leagues he's run.

It looks like his cheapest is $84 for 13 months which is about $6.49/month, though he does do some of the work for you and would definitely speed up the process. I'm familiar enough with html and php to get a site set up for about $2/month. It looks like FHM2 will output into .csv format so using php we should be able to generate brows-able pages for everyone to look through. Though what I'm wondering is if everyone will be able to use the league file to search through things themselves. Time will tell. I'm hoping cole does a blog about online play soon.

How do the OOTP leagues all post those nice online report pages?

How do the OOTP leagues all post those nice online report pages? I haven't played OOTP before but I have played in FHL and SimonT hockey sim leagues before. I'd imagine the game outputs the reports into a type of office spreadsheet file, you then use php or html to display the file all nice and fancy. There are ton of ways to display them through simple tables all the way hyperlinked tabbed java like displays. I can't wait to get my hands on FHM2 so we can see exactly what we can do with it in regards to this.

It should be rather easy to do. Any advice on how OOTP does it would be great. I imagine FHM will be the same file format even. Not sure what OOTP uses but FHM will use .csv

Yeah that should be fairly easy to accomplish. It's just setting up the .csv file contents into a nice displayable table. After some searching I have found that OOTP exports everything into a .csv file called an Almanac which includes all stats, standings, contracts, players and transactions. Then you just have to export them into a website. Add a few images and make it your own and wala you have a nice fancy webpage. I really hope FHM exports their files in this same way as they make it very easy to export that to a web format in OOTP. Do we have any other members that are competent in web page building? When the time comes we should be able to set up a very nice webpage with file storage for very cheap. Will make everything very easy on the Commissioners. I could do it myself but any help would be appreciated.

I looked into allsimbaseball some more and they make it incredibly easy, the website is pre-build for you which saves us a lot of time getting going. All we need to do is tweak it a little bit to suite hockey and we should have a very nice website. The cost is the only downside as it runs at $84/year. If everyone stays active enough all we would need are a few donors, I myself would front a large portion of the cost if we go this route. Would look very professional and would be easy for everyone to browse around and use. Of course we would keep the forum for communication, trade talks and updates. I'd have to talk to Fidel and see if the domain would allow us to host our forum on it as well. Damn, we would look real fancy.

I'd be able to help with the cost. For the amount of time I spend with good leagues it's money well spent.

According to the commish of the OOTP league I linked to above "The OOTP reports you linked are created by OOTP game itself.". Then there are draft utilities, development pages, traded pick trackers and such that are a third party tool. Main pages and message board graphics are HTML created by one of the GMs.

Aside from that I just watched Fidels video explaining how the OOTP leagues through his hosting site work and it is incredibly straight forward. I sent him an email regarding the hosting of our forum through the domain we would register with him, hopefully he gets back soon. The only thing we can hope for now is that the developers of FHM2 made their online league files as easy to upload to allsimbaseball as OOTP did. Then we just have to cross our fingers and hope someone in the FHM2 community releases some fun online utilities for us to play around with.

I bumped my earlier thread asking about online functionality. It will probably be ignored as we delve deeper into the expansion and relocation needs of ONE person.

I seriously hope we get some online news soon. Fidel just got back to me and said we can set up an FHM2 account through his site no problem. He's going to look into linking our proboards forum to our domain name as well, hopefully it's not a problem. I am hoping we can get iNHL.com or iNHL.net, iNHL.org is a last resort.

I'm happy with whatever you go with Dax. I've been layed-off for a handful of months now and finally just now was offered a great opportunity for work, once I'm established a bit here I'll have no problem contributing a bit of cash if needed for the benefit of this league once we are all rock'n and roll'n.
It sounds like we may be just weeks away now from a release with so much activity on the OOTP boards so here's to a quick release for all of us here lol
cheers Rob.

Contribute what you can if you can! All contributions are welcome but if any of our GM's cannot or do not want to contribute that is fine. Just know that I have all of your ip addresses and will come draw dicks on your face while you slumber! Just kidding though. Or am I? I'm really hoping we get a release date fast another month and training camp will be open for the NHL and one more month after than the pre-season will be upon us. Should be an exciting couple of months coming up, especially if we get some online functionality news soon!

I'd be happy to chip in as well.
I wonder if the request for researchers means we're close to or far from release...

To me the request more than likely means they are ready to put the finishing touches on the 2015/2016 rosters. In some recent screen I noticed that all the teams had their 2015 draft picks so the next steps were probably to complete the trades and FA signings up to release then finish up international and junior rosters. I'm guessing at this point we see a late September release.

I can tell you that it is definitely on its way to adding the finishing touches as well as squishing a few bugs...
