"Hello ladies and gentleman and fans of all ages. I am Mark Chipman chairmen of True North Sports and Entertainment and owner of the Winnipeg Jets. We have called this press conference to inform the public and our fans that prior to the start of the 2015/2016 season Kevin Cheveldayoff, longtime General Manager of the Jets 2.0 will be promoted to our new President of Hockey Operations and Alternate Governor for the team. Kevin was an amazing GM and we feel he has earned his post as one of our top executives.
With that being said we are pleased to introduce Dax as our new General Manager. We will be giving Dax free reign to mold this Jets team of gritty veterans and talented youth into a potential playoff and eventual cup contender. Now I will hand this over to Dax."
Hello Winnipeg and Jets fans around the world. I'd like to thank Mark Chipman and the good people of True North Sports as well as Kevin for welcoming me to the Winnipeg Jets franchise. Although my resume is incredibly slim, I feel that I have an extensive knowledge of hockey built through many years of playing hockey simulation games, browsing public hockey forums and watching many a game on television. Enough in my opinion to bring this team into contender status within the next few seasons.
Due to our recent draft luck I have inherited a very deep pool of talented prospects to work with. Building off of last years playoff run and regular season success we will be looking to make our core slightly younger to make sure that when our youth movement hits the ice at the MTS centre, we are in the best position to be a competitive contender in the Central Division, the Western Conference and the iNHL for years to come.
Now that I have my vision for the Jets going forward out on the table, I will now be taking questions from those in attendance...
