Beans:
Thank you all for coming on such short notice. Yet another big day around the holidays and you’ve all been so diligent in covering it all, so thank you.
Great to see such amazing commitment to the iNHL. Even us bottom-feeders.
Happy to take any questions...
Craig Button: Why so many trades around the holiday season? Have you no decency?
Beans: No decency. I’ll take any opportunity I can to improve my team.
Darren Dreger: Thanks for your time, Beans. So what was your best move this holiday season?
Beans:
Short term, Grabner. The guy’s gonna score, he brings speed, we should lock him up to an extension short term.
Long term, Sbisa probably – he needs to prove he belongs in the League but we believe in him.
Bob McKenzie:
Two part question, if you don’t mind, Beans:
1) With Andrew Ference traded out of town, who’s going to captain the iBruins?
AAAANNNNNND…..
2) What’s the motivation to trade Ference? You’re not going anywhere in the standings.
Beans:
1) There are a lot of candidates. We have a lot of character in the room at this point. Personally, I don’t know that there is a good answer.
In the short term, guys like Dan Boyle and Brooks Laich are quality people who can carry the torch.
Long term, I really, really like Alex Wennberg. He’s a solid player, a character guy, and someone I can see wearing the ‘C’ for a long time. We’ll see how things play out, but there’s a lot of options – Provorov in the future, Honka…I really like Wennberg.
2) We got a guy in Sbisa we like…we lower our cap hit. We can be very, very
active in free agency now if we want to be.
Nick Kypreos: Face It!!!! You guys suck, you’re gonna have the best chance at #1 overall, who
do you want?
Beans:
Alright, I’ve got things to do tonight, so this will be the last question, but, to
answer your question, I’d say that we don’t really care…the #1 pick is in play.
If we can acquire an elite talent, we’ll trade our 1st in 2016.
We’re not looking to tank.
