Risers
German Rubtsov (C) Russkie Vityazi Chekhov
Smart two-way center with size. Rubtsov turned heads at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament and followed this up with an outstanding performance at World Jr A Challenge, taking control of the Semi Final game against a much more experienced USHL Select Team. At 6'1'', 174 pounds, scouts can project him as a much bigger center when he matures; has the combination of skill and power that scouts love in the modern iNHL. Posted an impressive 61 points in 63 games in the MHL, the Russian development league. Recent draft seasons have punished Russian prospects due to signing concerns and the threat of the KHL, so he may not go inside the top 20 overall, but very likely a first-round pick and should be selected in the top 30 on draft day.
Alan Lyszczarczyk (C) UMass Minutemen
Lyszczarczyk has an interesting backstory in that he is from Poland and has been playing in Europe, but his parents moved to New Jersey several years ago, so he avoided having to be taken in the CHL’s European Import Draft. Offered a roster spot at Sudbury Wolves but committed to UMass before the 15/16 season started and has done nothing but flash speed and offensive skills since arriving, with 10 goals and 31 points in 42 games.
Marco Miranda (LW) GCK Lions
Makes plays with soft hands and possesses good overall hockey sense. Responsible defensively, good at taking away shooting lanes and blocking shots. Strong performance at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament (4 points in 4 games) together with 21 points in 39 games for GCK Lions in the Swiss National League B have seen him become a player of interest in the iNHL draft.
Fallers
Vernon Pollard (C) UMass Minutemen
Due to heart problems discovered at a routine medical checkup, promising center prospect Vernon Pollard has been forced to quit playing ice hockey. The young Canadian, who had been projected to be picked in the first round of this summer's draft, still follows the team from the bench but has now been forced to focus fully on a career outside the rink.
Milton MacNeill (RD) American International Yellowjackets
Going undrafted in last year's draft, MacNeill impressed scouts in the early part of this season, with dominating play from the blueline with his NCAA side. The huge American was projected to go in the first round, but his play during the spring has reverted to mediocrity and he is projected to be no more than a low-round pick, if that.
