Rumour has it the New Jersey Devils are dangling Kyle Palmieri and Kevin Fiala as trade bait for a star defenceman. It is also believed they might be willing to part with their 2016 1st rounder and and one of their young d-men in a deak that would land such a player.

Rumors out of the windy city suggest that if the Blackhawks's season doesn't go according to plan and the Devils are still seeking to net themselves a star defenseman we could see all star defenseman Brent Seabrook being used as trade bait to reduce they're salary cap for next seasons group of extensions. But rumors have also been shifting towards one of the most profilic electric players in the iNHL and that's perhaps Chicago considering shedding Patrick's Kane contract and creating room for future growth as well.. This is going to be an interesting season folks!

With his two goals against the New York Rangers, Alex Ovechkin has become the all time Russian born goalie scorer leader with 484 passing Sergei Federov. Congrats to #8.

Ottawa GM, Brob89, was asked about the possibility of All-star defenseman, Duncan Keith being brought in to strengthen the Senators blue line. He responded with a sarcastic, "That would be a nice turn of events, eh? No discussions have been had as of now, unfortunately." Sources within the Senators organization insist that there are ongoing discussions between Ottawa and Chicago, but it's unclear as to whether Duncan Keith is involved. Clearly the reorganization of the Blackhawks organization continues as they struggle to figure out what life looks like after years of multiple Stanley Cups and the exit of Patrick Kane.

Interesting to see the changing makeup of the iBruins. We all know Beans has a need for speed but he also seems to be taking his team on quite the Euro trip:
The iBruins only have 1 North American defenseman in the starting lineup (Dan Boyle - and he's as good as gone by the deadline). Overall, only 9/20 iBruin starters are North Americans and that includes 5 of the team's bottom-6 forwards, both goalies, and Boyle. Emerson Etem is the only top-6 player from North America.
Pavel Zacha and Ivan Provorov - the two most likely iBruin prospects to crack the big club next year - also European.

Hearing some murmurs that Sergei Bobrovsky will be rested during the Blue Jackets Western Canadian road trip this week. With a big 5-game home stand following, this is an unsurprising move by the Columbus brass.

Overheard Leon Draisaitl and coach Claude Julien exchanging tense words. This does not sound like the kind of problem that can be overcome. Will be interesting to see who prevails in this dual, as GM Beans has shown unwavering support for Julien. Does a disgruntled franchise centre change things? I would think so...

The Julien-Draisaitl standoff is being pondered by iBruins management tonight. Seems highly unlikely they're both iBruins next week but not at all clear who could be leaving. Having said that, Julien is one of the highest paid coaches in the iNHL.

Looks like Julien is the loser of the battle with Draisaitl. Expect a new iBruins coach to be named in the next 24 hours.

4th overall pick could be moved tonight. Offer on the table "looks good" according to a source with knowledge of the matter. Both teams need to determine if this is the right move before pulling the trigger. Stay tuned.

Interesting development at Buffalo, apparently prompted by the poor performance across the board of established iNHL No.1's. My understanding is there has been a big push for this move by the Sabres analytics department, who believe the underlying metrics show that last season was not a fluke in terms of goalie stats. GM Dixon has reluctantly agreed following recent trades on the goalie market, which have led to a dearth of available talent and the realization that now might be the best time to obtain a good return on Andersen.

Hearing that the Leafs are making early moves. Winnik hits waivers and Johnson goes to the injury list with Khokhlachev and Nylander moving up. The move is likely to mean Kovar moves to the wing as Nylander is the better faceoff option.

San Jose is not happy with Tommy Wingels, and are questioning his role with the team. Rumor has it that he's a poor fit with their offense and isn't likely to survive the season on their roster. Expect young forward Joonas Donskoi to reclaim his spot if Wingels is traded/waived.

Hearing iEDM GM Paul Pearson isn't happy with the team's possession stats to this point in the season, and the team is looking to add a veteran centerman to help. Antoine Vermette is a name which keeps coming up. Could we have an inter-divisional trade?
Also, Pearson is reportedly concerned with 2nd-line center Scott Laughton's lack of development so far this season, and will make moves to rectify. Laughton will see more time on the PK, as well as new linemates to help in his development.

It seems as if the Kings are holding onto that 3rd overall; however, they are apparently in talks to move rookie defenseman Erik Cernak. Certainly a strange strategy from GM Marcus Markiss, who had no comment on the rumors. Cernak showed a lot of promise as a puck-moving d-man, although he did have a very quiet second half to the season.

Darryl Sutter on whether or not his asking price is too high for the Kings to afford, "If they want me back they'll pay for me," Looks as if there is a growing wedge between Sutter and Markiss. Markiss, who was tight-lipped about Sutter responded, "There's a lot of coaching talent available, and we're evaluating our situation accordingly," Sources say that Markiss has shown interest in Devils head coach John Hynes, and are waiting for Devils GM Jon Bold to move first before deciding on Sutter's renewal.
